Gravity racing design and build is generally an amateur affair. Apart from the Xtreme cars of 2005 onwards (where motor manufacturers got involved) gravity racing is still the preserve of amateur (albeit very talented) individuals.
As an F1 fan I have always marvelled at the design of F1 cars, and especially the way that the designers claw back performance when the rules serve to slow them down at every turn. This documentary about Gordon Murray ranks amongst my favourites. Sure, some of the technical aspects don’t apply directly to gravity racing, but the main sentiment certainly does. Work hard, think outside the box and never stop searching for the next advantage.
And when they tried to get rid of the ground effect in the 80’s, who managed to fiddle the rules with some clever engineering…. Oh yeah…
